Remember when there was concern because of Reagan's age? And his declining mental faculties? Seems like a young pup and sharp as a tack by comparison now. Wow!

It kind of seems like the job that you want to finish is the United States of America itself. In which case, I’m afraid you may be succeeding. -- So many "quotables" in this richly deserved rant!

But as Joe is a total placeholder, who or what is it that is leading the charge to finish us off? I am beginning wonder if we aren't in Obama's third term? The end of his second term was bad enough in terms of civil liberties. It used to be that the "baddies" were post WW2 right wing industrialists & their political puppets. Nowadays we see the ranks being overtaken with authoritarian leftists -- so-called "progressives" -- who have likewise gained wealth and power through exploitation. How is it that being a politician now results in 11 million dollar beachfront property? Uniparty, indeed.

Still, I am nostalgic for an uncomplicated view that says we can "course correct" to the things that did once make our nation so attractive. I feel an increasingly patriotic allegiance to our Bill of Rights and Constitution. And I plan to vote in each election as through it matters. Despite my grave doubts about election integrity, go Kennedy 2024!

Meanwhile by jettisoning wisdom and every moral & ethical constraint we seem to be living in a zombie democracy that may well a be heading toward a financial collapse that will make the secure and complacent upper-middle-class life that my children have enjoyed a past dream. The most valuable thing we have imparted to them is that God promises to restore all things by his justice which has served them as a bulwark for mental and spiritual health in a world full of corruption.

[Side note: How to read yourself into complete skepticism about post WW2 America: John Perkins, Confessions of an Economic Hitman; Gary Webb, Dark Alliance (about crack cocaine and the Contras); Tom O'Neill, Chaos: Charles Manson, the CIA and the Secret History of the Sixties; David Talbot, The Devil's Chessboard, Allen Dulles and the CIA; Whitney Webb's Two-Volume One Nation Under Blackmail -- you’ll never believe in “accidental plane crashes” and “suicides” again.]
